AbracadALDI

Back blip

Up at the crack of dawn to get a taxi to the airport for a 6.15am flight. We booked a taxi the night before and it all went like clockwork, surprisingly and thankfully!

The excitement of the day was going to see if the big banner proclaiming 'Abertura 18 abril' had actually happened as the site of our fresh food market looked still like a building site last week. Someone had pulled their finger out or pulled a rabbit out the hat and there it was.... AbracadALDI! Open! It was pretty busy when we arrived at 11.00am, with lots of oohs and aahs and close inspection of the shop and products, especially the fresh fish, fresh meat, hams and cheeses. As a first impression we liked it: the market-like stalls in the entrance, wide aisles, the little cafe, and some interesting enough products to make it a bit different to our other local supermarkets.

The rest of the day was unpacking from Budapest, Bb packing for Munich and my getting everything ready for our next guests arriving tonight: Laura from the UK and her friend Fabien from Marseilles. They arrived later than expected as Fabien had had to drive from Marseille, picked Laura up at the airport and then called us to ask about parking. Difficult in Bcn! Luckily Bb knew a place which was free parking 20 mins walk away. He took Fabien there and the car was parked safely while I showed Laura around the house. They seem very nice so fingers crossed.

I've added an extra as I liked the way everyone was inspecting the fresh fish!
