Another Languedoc year...

Never again II

This afternoon we managed to dash into the local mushroom exhibition in the closing hours of a four day event.

To say we were overwhelmed by the phenomenal range of mushrooms one can find locally is an understatement. Although many of the specimens were past their best we could clearly see how easy it would be to confuse a delicious mushroom with its almost identical toxic cousin.

It put me right off collecting wild mushrooms despite being a fully paid up member of the mycological association.

Next year I'm definitely going on some of the society's explorations to learn a lot more. But for the time being we'll be buying our ceps, girolles and pleurottes.
