Heffle Cuckoo Fair

Noo has been so excited about this! He pounced on me this morning, before I was even awake, to remind me. Traditionally, children from his school walk in the procession and sing the cuckoo song, written by Rudyard Kipling. Dame Heffle, who has been attending the cuckoo fair since the 1300s, then asks them to sing it again before she releases the pidgeons cuckoo to mark the start of spring in Sussex.

The best past of the day for Noo, and the worst part for me, was winning a toy machine gun on one of the stalls!

ZQ was thrilled with his bacon sandwich, and the opportunity to walk in the procession to boost numbers.
