Passamaquoddy

We woke to more snow – and it was still coming down lightly when we set out to hike along the Passamaquoddy and Stony Man Trails out of Skyland. The initial overlooks were misty but impressive but the fog rolling down off the mountains had pretty much obscured the view by the time we got to the summit of Stony Man. It was good to be walking on the Appalachian Trail with snow on the ground, though and to not meet a single other person the whole time we were out. We took the afternoon off to laze around in the warmth of the cabin and upgraded from the Tap to the restaurant proper for dinner which meant that even though we could hear tonight’s school teacher entertainment (electric guitar this time) at least he couldn’t see us skulk out guiltily whilst he was only halfway through his first Lynyrd Skynyrd number…
