Close Encounters

Today the weather was calm enough for the Raptor experience to take place. This was my wife's birthday present from me (almost 4 weeks ago), and we were glad it was possible to enjoy the experience within the month, before the autumn rains fully set in.

We took loads of pictures, this was one of them that made us laugh, with this owl looking taken aback by its encounter with Mrs W. Sorry, I can't remember which kind of owl this is. We certainly handled a good number of different birds, and it was lovely to see them close up. This owl weighs about 4lb, so you certainly know it's on your arm.

The couple who offer this experience from their home in the Powys mountains know their facts about the different birds, and eagerly shared much of it. It's great that such knowledge is held by people, and passed on to any who will listen.
