Pink beauties
I think it was George II who said the British summer was three fine days and a thunderstorm. Well, we had four fine days and it was certainly followed by a thunderstorm last night - not the cacophonic thunderstorm that one gets in Africa but a humdinger by British standards! I therefore was expecting all the beautiful blossoms to have been knocked off the trees but no, this cherry blossom tree around the corner from our house was still full of blossoms so I decided to get some photos before they disappear.
It was another hot day today and I was grateful that Gavin had withdrawn from the London Marathon - he has run 40 marathons and this is the first time he has had to withdraw, due to a hamstring injury that is taking a long time to heal. Due to the heat runners were asked to carefully consider running in fancy dress but I see many still did - it was the hottest London Marathon on record.
Luke is doing well with his icing, compression and cycling although the compression seems to have forced the scar to open a tiny bit - I made him go see the GP on Friday and he was given antibiotics in case it turned nasty over the weekend but so far it seems to be okay.
Cooler weather this week!
