Eucalyptus gunnii
The gardens at Inverewe were our objective for today. We set off as usual around 9:00, however there is continual problem with driving in the highlands! The scenery! There were regular stops to photograph or merely admire the view. Eventually we reached the gardens and coffee was the first thing on the agenda. Being a Scottish National Trust site a scone was also on the agenda.
The gardens were magnificent and unless things have progressed rapidly since we left home so much futher on than Cumbria. We picniced on the shore of Loch Ewe hoping for an Otter sighting but no luck. We wandered along twisting paths marveling at the foresight of Osgood Mackenzie to plan, layout and bring to fruition such a garden. Particularly when you remember such a garden would not reach maturity until long after his death.
From the gardens we went on to Badachro and from there to Red Point. While walking down to the beach at Red Point we met a couple coming up. There followed a long conversation between Clickychick and the gentleman about the pros and cons on various pieces of Canon equipment followed by a request to feel the weight and have a look through her 400mm lens.
