Shags Nesting

It was cold and blustery down at Dunbar harbour this morning so there was limited activity among the nesting herring gulls. Most of them seemed to be hunkered down on their perches. However, the shags who always seem to nest on the highest rock just outside the harbour were a little more active. In the viewfinder they appear to be little more than silhouettes. but with the shadow detail lifted in Lightroom you can see the detail of their plumage and the tell tale yellow streak at the side of their beak. The shags use quite large sticks as their nesting material unlike the gulls who don't seem to bother with much nesting material.
