Weeds
Cooler today. Nice. Much better for working in the garden. Plenty to do in Mum's garden, starting with the sunny border that 40 years ago was my patch. After some building work next door earlier this year a new fence was installed which conveniently involved some serious shrub and root excavation on our side. Much unwanted growth disappeared. The down side is the compaction of the heavy clay soil by workmen's boots. Even the weeds have struggled to get going! So one of today's jobs has been breaking up and 'cleaning up' the ground. A trip to the garden centre yielded some organic soil improver - my hands still small vaguely of horse - which will definitely help. Sweet peas planted out into ground cleared yesterday and the second half of the lawn mowed .... she may be 90 but Mum had already done the first half before we arrived! Plenty more to do tomorrow but we're both pleased with today's efforts.
Forget-me-nots have colonised part of the vegetable patch. A rather wild look to this corner but I like it that way :-)
