At the Dead Sea
I arrived into Amman at lunchtime today, and was promptly whisked away to the Dead Sea. It’s beautiful down here. In fact the whole country is beautiful. So much so that the driver commented that I must like trees (as I kept commenting...).
I checked in and I have a bit of a sea view. I thought that was out of budget but I suspect the noise from the extractor fan of the neighbouring car park has a part in the price!
Anyway, had a quick lunch and was delighted to run into former colleagues from the Cairo office. We agreed to meet on the beach for a Dead Sea swim. It’s a fab experience. I’ve done it before and it was good to do it again. It’s pretty much too deep to stand near the shore and the water is so salty that it just envelopes you and says come with me. And away you bob, and splash about until you give in, and float, with not much else to worry about. Except people floating by.
We towelled off and enjoyed sundowners on the terrace, then dinner, a walk and bed. It’d been an early start with a late night.
Feeling positive about the conference and meeting such a diverse group of people.
