Frog crossing
Today must have beaten all records - it was burning hot. Late night I even managed to pour a kettle of boiling water over the back of my left hand. I now know what boiling hot means.
The village frog/toad/next rescue group seems to have stopped their daily escort service on Monday 16th- A couple of days of just having 11 creatures to give assistance to. Seems like around 2,700 amphibians were recorded this year. The group appears to have been getting/seeking a lot of media attention for the cause. I heard them once on the radio and if I heard right, they used to have much higher numbers, usually 5,000 and once 7,000. As I understand it, modern agricultural methods are the main reason for the decline.
Our pond has gone quiet but there are hundreds of tadpoles growing bigger day by day.
Our swimming pool has been sorted but for the fact that the pump has seized. Spent hours in the blazing sun trying to get all the piping sorted and managed eventually to free the pump but won't rebuild it and run a test until tomorrow.
