Downer cow.....

Not a good start to the day. An old cow that calved on Saturday was flat out with milk fever. Gave her a bottle of calcium under the skin at 6 am then another one at 9 am. Usually that gets them back on their feet, but she was still down mid morning so got the vet to give her another one into the vein . She eventually got up but still not 100% tonight . Will see what the morning brings.
A day spent spreading dung from a shed as the cows are up to their armpits round the feeder and they will be in for a week or two yet. Roll on summer !
