Autumn Splendour
Blipmate and Mr Blipmate invited me to join them on a drive to Marahau as it was a beautiful morning and the road is now open.
Driving over the hill to Marahau was like a horror story. Although we had seen many photographs and videos of the damage done to this area during the recent Cyclone nothing could have prepared us for the devastation we saw on that side of the hill. Huge slips scarred the hills, small streams choked with mud and debris had taken out bridges and roads and silt lay deeply on farms. Some of the area was barely recognisable. Seeing landslides that slid down so close to houses makes you wonder again how no one was killed.
But, business was going on as usual. Boats were being launched, kayaks were being hired by tourists and trampers were once again walking the track to the Abel Tasman National Park
We drove around, spotted this avenue of trees in it's autumn finery and stopped for a photo or two. Sadly, it doesn't quite look as I saw it. The colours were warmer, pinker, and less yellow in my memory . Looking at it in large brings out the colour better.
For the theme of movement set by BobsBlips, this pic demonstrates the movement of summer to winter. (A bit of a stretch, I know)
