The old library in the park

Morrisons as usual this morning.  It wasn't raining but it was quite cold.

After breakfast of " eggy bread ", yogurt and blackberries  I watched TV for a while.  Then I walked down to the village to post a letter and go to the bank.  Popped into Herons to get some cat food for Lily - her favourite - but they didn't have the fishy flavour she likes.

Then to the park to get my blip shot for " Derelict Sunday". This building used to be the village library. When a new library was built in the new shopping area the old library was used by the Council as some sort of depot.  However its been empty and boarded up for a few years now.  Last year the Council announced that this building - together with a couple of other derelict buildings in the park  - were " surplus to requirements " and they were proposing to sell them off. They also indicated that the main entrance to the park was " surplus to requirements ".  Some local residents and opposition councillors are of the opinion that the Council intend to sell off the land and the access road to a developer who will knock down the derelict buildings and build new  houses.  So far nothing has happened but I'm sure if any housing is proposed the Council will have a fight on their hands as local residents are opposed to this scenario.  I must say I don't think its a good idea to build houses in the park as its not a suitable location.  Thanks to 60plus who is hosting the challenge at the moment.

Yesterday Neil heard from his friend Wayne who was in Dublin for the horse racing at Punchestown.  As Neil had the day off today he decided - on the spur of the moment -  to book a flight to Dublin so he could join Wayne for the day. I bet he had a great time.
