Pennan Harbour
I do love it here. I'm torn between thinking I could live here and wondering if it might drive me mad. The cliff, a row of houses, a single track road, a promenade, and the sea. And a pub that's closed six months of the year.
But we've loved it. The sea just outside the window, reading, playing guitar, the Minx drawing, going for walks, and picnics by the sea. And it's been liberating leaving the iPhone behind - or even just in my bag - and carrying the Nokia around. It's been a proper break.
We went back to the pub for another meal tonight (it is that good) but beforehand I walked up the hill to get signal to phone Dan and Abi but to no avail. When I met the Minx in the pub, she said "Why don't you use the phone box?". As can be my grumpy way, I was dismissive of the idea but then, over dinner, realised it was perfect: visit Pennan and use the phone box. So I did.

Reading: Paul Cornell’s ‘London Falling’. Which I finished today having only started it yesterday morning! A brilliant, magical romp, full of great and wonderfully realised ideas. A definite 5.
