Northern Flicker

I don't often get the opportunity to see one of these beauties, so I was pretty excited to spot this one in the backyard this morning.  Poor lighting didn't stop me from stalking it and attempting to record its presence, but it'a a good thing I didn't expect the pictures to look great.  Hopefully, I'll have the chance to photograph it again on a brighter day.  For now, I'm happy to have seen this pretty visitor. :)

Not much of a chance for me to put the rental lens through the paces on this dim day.  Looking forward to the sunshine that is predicted for tomorrow.
