US spending: surprised to see these data

Hi.

Today I saw this on time magazine. I wish I understood why health spending is so large when there is no central health provider and most people pay for their personal health insurance. I looked up spending for other countries... It's difficult to compare.

Had a lovely day today. The weather was fantastic, I feel like I completed most of the tasks I set out to (pat in the back, yay): went for a run, had a healthy breakfast, yoga, coffee, met with a friend for lunch, did 7min workout with mum, made cookies, made lunch for tomorrow. Now I'm falling asleep as a write. Pardon any grammar or spelling mistakes. I'm struggling to keep my eyes open.
