Oscar says bye bye to 'Da'
It happened sporadically, a bit like finishing breast feeding when Oscar and Bailee were 19 months old. I looked back on a moment and thought that that was the last time, I felt it easier to deal with this way as opposed to having the emotional 'last feed'.
Getting rid of the dummy was not such an emotional thing for me (Although I wish I'd gotten a picture of his last suck lol). I'd had a chat with a friend online about Oscar needing to lose the dummy the night before and mentioned it to our helper Regina. She informed me that yesterday he'd gone to sleep without his dummy at nap time (As I'd left her to put the twins to bed while I went out to do the grocery shopping). I thought if she can do it, I can do it so now is the time!
I told him he is a big boy now and doesn't need a dummy anymore. I also said that we would give the 'da' to their Aunty Claire's baby. He understood and went to sleep without a lot of fuss at all!
After a bit of good old fashioned facebook advice, I wrapped up a train to give to Oscar when he woke up for sacrificing his dummies. He was very excited about it and concentrated hard playing with them. I felt mean that Bailee didn't get a present but reminded myself that they are individuals and it is important to foster this. She understood and actually looked quite proud of 'Ga'
Going to bed at night was a bit more distressing. Every book/toy he could possibly think of was requested. Stu and I rushed around with torches finding them..... In the end he went to sleep without any hysterical crying. There was a bit of pleading for dummy but so far not bad at all! We will see what the night has instore for us!
In reference to the photo, we are loving walking to the park below our apartment building most days. I love to give Oscar and Bailee a bit of exercise so they followed Maple and I to the playground with their little buggies. We stopped and had a raisin picnic and actually saw two more sets of twins (8 days and 8 weeks old) walking past! There are so many twins in Dubai!
