Liberal wisdom
Continuing my tour of hidden gems of architecture in Alloa, I was at a community breakfast meeting at the former Liberal Club in Mar St today. What an interesting old building - beautiful old wood banisters and archways and fireplaces and what must have been a magnificent hall with lovely stained glass telling the story of the various trades in Alloa in the 19th century. This pane caught my eye because of the legend on it "eternal vigilance is the price of liberty" which seems very apt today with everything that is going on in the world, including the disgraceful attempt by the Westminster government to usurp the powers of the devolved Scottish Parliament.
