Raining cats and dogs

We know it means it's raining very hard but there appears to be no known source of the origin of this 17th century expression. And with the heavy rains and cold, grey weather, our four cats have stayed indoors all day.

We had a trip to a Garden Centre/Lifestyle store this afternoon and I spotted this unusual fountain. It would have been a good contender for Admirer's Silly Saturday Challenge but alas it is Friday. Do the ducks really need a brolly?
