Fading Away

She has fulfilled her purpose. Her eggs have been laid for next season’s generation. Now her wing cases are rumpled and damaged, and a delicate wing hangs unprotected. The jerusalem artichokes she has spent her entire life on are dying back for winter. All that is left for her is to enjoy any sunshine that comes her way.
