Barrow 1 Chester FC 2
Today was the final match of a long season, the 38th Chester league game I have seen out of a possible 46.
With Chester already relegated there was no pressure today but Barrow needed to win to be certain of staying up. In the event Chester’s youngsters did Callum proud and fully deserved the 2-1 win but Barrow avoided relegation as Woking lost late on at Dover.
it may have been a terrible season but today’s result was a big boost to everyone and all the players and management team came over to thank the supporters at the end of the game. The new manager will be appointed next week and I am already looking forward to next season in the National League North.
The picture shows ominous clouds gathering just before half time although fortunately the weather passed us by and we stayed dry. Barrow is a proper old fashioned ground as you can see from the terracing. The lady standing on the pillar is the mother of one of the Chester players.
