I promise....

That this is a cuckoo! We heard it first, then were fortunate enough to spot it sitting on the fence. Neither of us had ever seen one before, and only rarely heard one either, so this was something of a special occasion! We watched it for several minutes, and also watched a pair of much smaller birds chase it away from its' perch on the fence.
