just incubating
We went for a walk along Cromford Canal today and sure enough the pair of swans that nest on the towpath each year are in exactly the same spot again. Signs to remind dog walkers to have dogs on the lead and some orange mesh to offer a little protection, you walk within a foot of the swan sitting her nest. Asleep and used to passers by she continues her incubation for about 5 or 6 weeks. Now that is plenty of sleeping.
In extras are 12 blue tit eggs !! I previously reported from our nestbox cam that on 6 April Mrs BT had finished nest building but didn't spend much time at home. Then on 20th April she was regularly sitting. On 22nd April we had 6 eggs but again not too much sitting on them. Well today there are 12 eggs and she is regularly sitting with Mr BT bringing in food. So hopefully around the 13th May we will see some nestlings.
