Day 2, Haltwhistle Spring Walking Festival 2018

I went on the short walk today, about 8 miles starting in Allendale and exploring the East Allen, both the valley and the fells above. It was quite a tough walk and it was much colder than yesterday. The sun came out briefly at lunchtime.

We were a small, select group, ably led by Lil Young, who you can see in the high vis jacket in the centre of the photo.

We had lunch at Rowantree Stob, an old bastle house that has been restored recently.

The long walk, Three Counties in One Day, and the Special Interest walk, the Complete Railway experience, went well. Sadly the steam engine broke down yesterday so they had to make do with diesel.

 Arth and Aggie have survived another day. Tomorrow I'm leading so I'll have to find a way to grab a blip at some point.
