Saint Cornelius church

Introduction ROOMS-CATHOLIC CHURCH H. CORNELIUS, was built between 1909 and 1918 according to a design by Joz. Cuypers from Roermond and Jan Stuyt from The Hague. Architect Jan Stuyt worked with Joz at the beginning of his career. Cuypers. The building style of the church is traditionalist with neo-Romanesque style influences. The church was built on behalf of the population increase that the mines brought about in the nearby colony Heerlerheide.
