How to keep two photographers quiet…

…for a couple of hours.  I bought B a ceramic workshop for a Christmas present, and it was part one today, and I went along too.  After the wobbly coil pot that was my best effort from my pottery classes at school I wasn’t massively excited about it or expecting great things.
However, I was pleasantly surprised.  It was a wild and windy day but it was quite cosy in our tutor’s workshop, especially with the heater and radio on, and being only two of us we received plenty of expert tuition. 
By the end of the (what seemed like a ten-minute) two hours, to my surprise I had produced a half-decent vase/pen pot, as shown in my blip.  This now has to dry out for a few days, then Keri will sand it and tidy it up and it will then be fired.  Providing it doesn’t break in the kiln, I’ll be back in a couple of weeks to glaze and complete it.
 
My vase was made by the ‘slab’ method, which resembled a cookery lesson at the start when I had to use a rolling pin to flatten and smooth some stoneware clay, then cut out a rectangle which when the long edges were stuck together made a cylinder.  Then a circle for the base was stuck on and trimmed and sealed and finally the decorative features of the cow parsley was added.  See Boms blip of me in action (so to speak!):

If it survives, I’ll blip the completed article in a fortnight.
 
Meanwhile, B used a different method to construct a pot in the form of an owl which looked excellent in it’s raw state, and again will be fired and glazed.  The first extra is B working on her owl.
 
It was a most therapeutic morning and I’m really looking forward to part two!
 
The second extra was a display in the café window, where we popped into for lunch, and is a rabbit inside two glass domes, with an abstract view of the street outside. It's of no relevance whatsoever, but I just liked it!
