Woodpecker

The return of the woodpecker to the bird feeders is always a cause for rejoicing as we probably only see them there maybe half a dozen times a year. This female Great Spotted Woodpecker and I just love the downy feathers on her breast. Makes you want to stroke them though they revery wary of any  human proximity.
