Security

Hassan and Ahmed are our two harrises (is that plural correct??), In Egypt they were called bowabs, in the West they’d be a cross between a caretaker and security. Their home is a room, with a small attached kitchen just off the lobby of my building. Just recently they’ve taken up their posts at these desks from about 9am to 930pm. Their job is to monitor who comes and goes, especially since the building owners now have their offices here.

I believe they can ask for the Civil ID of anyone who visits which causes some consternation among foreigners.

A good Pilates class today and swim. Then a quick visit to the dentist. Back to work tomorrow.
