Covered in rain

This morning, not only was our strawberry plants covered in rain, albeit only a smattering, but these mesh like webs were also on some of them.
I have no idea what made them. The first, and obvious thought, was a spider, but the web seems much finer, and more like the mesh that you would buy from a garden centre for covering plants.
Any Ideas?
