Day One...the Second Bath

Alpine goat kids Spirit and Alaska were born yesterday...April 30th. It always amazes me how quickly the babies can get up and get moving.

I titled it Second Bath. I'm assuming that either Mama goat or the farm workers gave the kids their first bath.

I watched them for about 75 minutes. Spirit moved after about 15 minutes, but Alaska never moved. I hope he/she is just tired after the birthing ordeal, and needed more rest. I'll let you know the next time I visit.

It was a good picture-taking day. (When it rains...it pours.) Sand-hill cranes, swans, a deer, chickadees eating out of my hand, blue herons, Percheron horses, a baby piglet, 6 week old goats, and red-winged blackbirds.

It was a hard Blip choice, but how many times do you get to see baby goats that are 24-30 hours old?
