Shabtis.
Manchester Museum reopened its Ancient Worlds exhibition last weekend. We have been eagerly awaiting this as O is learning about Ancient Egypt at school and wanted to see a mummy.
Shabtis were designed to be workers for their master in the afterlife and were placed in the tomb with them. They were sold as cheap souvenirs to tourists before their significance as artefacts was realised.
