Hope over Experience

I had been planning to see Spartans in their play-off against the Highland League winners but the weekend's final set of Championship fixtures meant United were up against Dunfermline in the first play-off tie and so, with it being so close, I just had to go. Poor performance, especially after the home team got a man sent off. That looked very harsh but on a par with the rest of the refereeing which was pretty inconsistent. After the sending off Dunfermline seemed happy to get away without losing and sadly United weren't capable of creating anything, even with an extra man. Passes went astray, control of the ball was woeful at times and there just weren't any ideas, other than passing the ball at the back from one side of the pitch to the other without anything happening. Finished 0-0 and the second leg up in Dundee is on Friday night. Even if we scrape through can't see us going further without a significant improvement. And Spartans lost 2-5 on aggregate, even if they did win 2-1 on the night :-(
