Central Library

My Dear Fellows & Dear Princess Normal,

Isn't this a nice building exterior? I really like it. It is Wellington's Central Library and you can see the impressive columns are actually palm trees.

But not ANY old palm tree. Oh my no. They are nikau, which is the native palm tree of NZ. You can tell because the fronds stick straight up. It looks like someone has PLOPPED a giant shuttlecock on the top of a regular "floppy" palm tree. So now you know. NZ palm trees are like regular palm trees that have overdosed on viagra.

The library is located just around the corner from Civic Square which is another pretty area to sit and look around.

Not that there was much of that going on today. It was CHILLY. Heavens. Lovely blue skies, but a nip in the air that pinched your nose and made you shrivel in some places and pointy in others.

I noted there were some people SUNBATHING though. In winter jackets. I'm not making this up, they were lying around getting their UV rays but still wearing woolly hats.

I find that odd.

I did not do anything so ridiculous. I wandered into the library and looked around. It really is very impressive inside also. I decided to join but the Mean Man wouldn't let me because I didn't have proof of address. I don't normally carry such things around with me when I'm just hanging around and farting about.

"And stop that farting," said the Mean Man*. Fascist.

So tomorrow you have to REMIND ME to bring along proof of address and then I'll join the library and bring home an ARMFUL of books about crusty old beggars killing foreigners and oppressing peasants and all the other fun stuff our nobility got up to.

Maybe I'll even share some of those stories on here with you. Now there's a threat.

S.

* I made this bit up to make you laugh. Did it work?
