Weaver Bird Architecture
I spent a fascinating hour watching the weaver birds build their nests this morning at the Zoo.
They start by wrapping grass/straw around a branch (extra 1) and continue adding grass/sticks until they have created an arch (extra 2). They then add twigs to the bottom of the arch to create a hoop (main). Finally they continue adding grass/twigs until they have a tear drop shaped suspended nest big enough for them to get inside (extra 3).
.....and they are born knowing how to do this. Amazing!
I've finally caught up with your journals now.....sorry I've been so pants at commenting lately
