Wine not do it yourself

This part of France is renown for the wind. They winds even have names, depending on the direction from which they come. Today we had 65mph winds from the northwest... I think that’s probably “Tramontane”. No matter what it’s name, it as hard to go outdoors. But we did.

Today we did eighteen kilometres, half of which were in the teeth of the winds, walking to Argent-Minerve and back, along the Canal du Midi. There was a huge black storm cloud that followed us, then passed us to the south, but we stayed dry.

Fair to say, we are pooped. So far this holiday we’ve walked fifty km and we have yet to use the car Wendy kindly left us. The winds continue tomorrow before the better weather returns. I gather it’s quite nice back home. But we like it here.

In truth the vast open countryside and low density population is very appealing. When I get home I’ve innumerable meetings about fitting more and more houses into our congested green space. Part of me wonders, if Brexit fails (as it should)...
