Gardening exertions

The last two days have been devoted to the garden, well, one border and the patio to be precise. We have had two visits to the garden centre to stock up on plants, shrubs, bulbs, compost and pots.
Over the two days we have planted...
The middle layer of the border.....
6 hydrangeas
6 alliums
2 choisyas
36 crocosmia bulbs
Front of border.....
6 geum
4 erysimum
2 scabious
2 hebe
4 osteospermum
10 begonia bulbs
On the other side of the tree...
10 Gladioli and a wild flower bed
In pots....
2 English lavender
1 photinia
2 euonymus

I left the daffodil bulbs in amongst it and also some cornflower and forget-me-nots that I couldn't bear to pull up. It looks nice at the moment and it was lovely when the bees started buzzing round us and we knew we had picked plants they would like. In two years it should look much better, hopefully the middle layer of the border will get to about 1 m to 1.5m and the front should all join together in a mass of red and blue. Mostly we went for perennials with a few annuals and bulbs for colour.

Next, we need to tackle the right hand side of the garden!! (a few more photos in extras, including Rob's new battery powered lawnmower which he loves!)
