Blooming marvellous

The 22 rare, local fruit trees we planted 2 years ago in the restored orchard at the nature reserve are just starting to blossom. This apple tree, Geniton, was discovered in a garden in Amersham. It is reputed to have spectacular, fragrant blossom followed by impressive numbers of brightly coloured small fruits. The flowers seem to be living up to its reputation this spring. In the background, the insect hotel is making progress.
