So, I have a confession. Until last year, I was still using disposable cameras. And until yesterday, I still didn't have a camera in my possession. I do now, but even that is not technically mine. It's being borrowed. So, camera-phobe, me? Yes...
This is all very new to me. I'm a words person - words by trade (journalism), words by hobby (reading/writing), I tend to think in words not visual. That's not to say I don't love photography, love art, spend hours rehanging new, curious images on my wall, but I've never contemplated being able document the world (well, my world) by images until now.
Blipfoto is genius!
I can't promise anything technically brilliant, or even interesting, but I want to stop, look around and click life a little more than I currently do now.
So, where to start? Well, as today's outdoor activity has consisted of shuffling to the shop to buy the Guardian and some bread, I've had to rely on my stomping ground of Wood Green for inspiration. And, in the year I've been living here, I've never found anything more curious that the dental repairs shop.
I'd never contemplated where dentures went if they were in need of TLC, who would? But apparently dentures travel to my very own road. This peculiar little shop is testament to the diversity and wonder of Wood Green. It's not all kebabs, yoofs, and Shopping City, it's got real character, too. Add to it that this shop is next to the essential late-night grocery, one of many here, with its beautiful rainbow of fresh fruit and vegetables, and suddenly the creepy teeth in the front window don't look so quite so creepy anymore.
Well, that's all for now. Will try and write less from now on. Though I really can't help myself sometimes... Hopefully I'll take some nice pictures that won't need any words at all next time.
