Day Out

This afternoon, a colleague of mine visited me.  She'd just recently moved house herself and she said I'm welcome to visit her the moment she has sorted out more stuff.  In the meantime, she's welcome to drop by here anytime she likes, just to warn in advance so I don't make other plans.  After about 1.5 hours chatting at the waterfront with AW, she left her car at my place and I drove us to town, where we had a walk around the city centre.  Weather was perfect!  First we had a snack in the Havermarkt, or 'Oat Market', and then dinner at Gauchos at Main Market Square.  Of course I seized the opportunity to eat out, but we weren't in the mood for kitchen work anyway, and she has allergic reactions to all kinds of spices that it was best to eat out and let the restaurant do the worrying.  She can eat steak so that is what she ordered -- without anything but salt as she can't take in pepper or other.  Her auto-immune system conked out a few years ago and it has shattered her social life and made her homesick for really good and yummy food.  What a pain if you are invited out or to someone's home and you can't sample their hospitality!  Being colleagues, we also ended up talking about work but decided to keep it to a minimum so as not to spoil our day.

Thanks, dear friend, for a wonderful day!

Before she arrived, by the way, finished the Cultures and Identities MOOC.  A final mark of 94 ... so not bad.  Glad it's done.  A few MOOC-less days most welcome.
