Willow meadow

This river meadow has a stand of willows which creates a lovely semi-shaded walk at this time of year. Once the foliage increases it becomes somewhat darker, but always looks good. The photo was taken mid-morning and the sun was quite high by then, but it still threw long shadows over the spring grass, which is at its freshest right now. This week or two at the start of May is perhaps the most beautiful time of year. It goes so quickly, and all you can do is try not to hold on to it; not that I ever succeed in doing that.
