Ahoy there!
Only one possible (main) blip today. Channeling my inner IainatCreel I give you - the Hoy Hills. So disappointed that we couldn't coordinate to see the man himself. We did have coffee in Julia's in his honour though.
Left Westray on the 09:00 boat and made good time into Kirkwall. We drove over to Stromness and paid homage to the two self catering places we've stayed there; one absolutely wonderful and the other in need of some love. That still looked to be the state of play with both of them today. After Pierowall Stromness seemed very busy but in a good way. Lots of people about.
After a picnic I wandered down to the Bay of Ireland and took this photograph across to Hoy. Then we stopped for another walk before heading south. At the last minute we turned east though and walked at Mull Head and the
Brough of Deerness. I'm very glad we did as the views east and north were really good. We did a bit of a scramble down then up again onto the head where there are the remains of a 10th century chapel (extra). The sun has been beating down all day and walking was quite hot work.
South at last and we are in St Margaret's Hope now for a couple of nights. Looking forward to the last days of the Orkney holiday. I have so many photographs to sort out. Choosing blips has been tricky - though not today.
