Day 125/18. Salisbury Cathedral
With the nave and roof reflected in the Font, looking towards the altar, Salisbury Cathedral looked magnificent today. Over 750 years old, the Cathedral has britains tallest spire. It took 38 years to build and used over 60,000 tons of stone, 2,800 tons of Oak and 420 tons of lead.
The font (see extra picture 1) was installed in 2008 to celebrate the 750th anniversary of the buildings completion.
It is also home to the best surviving original copy of the Magna Carta (only 4 survive), signed in 1215 by King John and the foundation of many modern constitutions, including the American bill of Rights and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. (see extra picture 2 for its home today)
