Queen's Wood
A truely international day today with a flying visit from our great friends Nico and Anne, owners of THE campsite in the Alps, their baby boys and Anne's Belgian parents. After so many days spent annually on their soil, it was strangely delightful to have them in our home, albeit for such a short time.
The weather was not kind, and the visit to a local maze was so shortlived it became nonexistant. (it has closed as half-term has finished) However thankfully the local arboretum, and playpark did not disappoint. These leaf colours, although lacking a true Autumn sunshine-radiance in the cold gloom, have not been altered at all.
Homemade sconebased pizzas were delicious on returning to the Raburn warmth of our kitchen, as was the garden sourced apple and blackberry crumble (a first for the travellers). Then a rushed departure beat the decending darkness for the reluctant drive back, on the 'wrong side' of the road.
The inevitably forgotten bag and personal items will be returned during a hastily convened dawn meeting, involving a motorway bridge and some propped eyelids.
