NZ SCAUP aythya novaeseelandiae

I really love these little birds - especially because of their beautiful eye. They are endemic ( only found in NZ ) Excellant divers feeding on weed and invertebrates.  Reminds me a bit of the toy ducks we had as kids ??
can also be referred to as a Black Teal.
