Old School

Sometimes paper, pencil and ruler are the most effective pieces of equipment.

A conversation today highlighted a potential problem with one of the systems that I allegedly manage in school. I came away from school at 5.45 with a horrible sinking feeling that I had caused an epic disaster. The only way to check was to manually trawl a complete set of data for every child in the school. It wasn't completely manual, but it took 3 hours and the only way I could track what I was doing was with the old pencil, a shoddily drawn table and the rubber for occasional mistakes.

Fortunately, I can go to bed now knowing that the extent of the problem was actually minimal and that I have not, for a change, caused a major catastrophe. Problem will be full resolved tomorrow morning and I can move on to the next problem.

The next problem might be something as simple as standing up. Today has been a very uncomfortable day pain wise. It is going to be a codeine night tonight.
