... an early morning drive to the East coast, successfully beating the traffic.

We parked at Sandsend and had a gentle walk to Whitby. This was one of the splendid views from the cliffs, looking towards the piers at Whitby.

After a fishy lunch in Whitby, we soon tired of the bank holiday weekend crowds and headed back northwards. It was hard to resist the many and varied beach activities down below. - and I loved the extra of the child looking towards the family on the promenade.
