Drinks Like A Fish

I bought this handy "Plant Nanny" the other day so that I won't have to worry about what will happen to my little windowsill herb garden when we go away for a few days to Connecticut.  The glass ball is filled with water, and then inverted onto a terracotta spike that is stuck into the dirt of the flower pot.  Water seeps through the terracotta slowly to keep the plant from drying out.  Just to see how long one "dose" of water lasts, I put the globe in the mint yesterday, and am amazed to find that half of it has already been sucked down ... and they say herbs don't like a lot of water!
