Happy Glampers!

As I thought, I was awake at 6am with the sun streaming in, and rather than turn over and try and go back to sleep, I walked over the field to see if I could capture the sun rising through the trees.  It was nice to see, but there was too much 'glare' in my photos.

I then got my towel and wash bag and went off to the shower, but I was too early as the water/power is on a timer so I had to go back a little later.  Everything here is immaculate and smells fresh, and as I said yesterday, I don't do camping, so this is perfect, I'd definitely come back and would recommend it.

Our hut is called 'Keeper's Cosy' and it certainly is very cosy.  I've added some extras including our view.  This morning while sat on the decking Alan spotting a Kite - as in a bird of prey, not the hand held kind :-)  I was cooking bacon for breakfast so gave him my camera, and considering the Kite was right across the field, he got some good shots.

It's so relaxing here, and after a couple of hours of doing nothing and really enjoying it, we went out for a walk.  We ended up walking 7 miles altogether, stopping off at Ropely railway station to see the steam trains and then carried on to Bishops Sutton where we had Sunday lunch at the Swan Inn.   The walk back was much harder as it was uphill and 24 degrees, plus we'd eaten and had a glass of wine.

It was quite an adventure really, on our way we saw some very strange birds that we've never seen before - they were guinea fowl and I've since seen them numerous times today, lastly being chased by a lamb!  Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of that.    Then on our way back Alan was following his map and we could see a footpath across a field that would cut a corner off the route, however when we got to that point there was no obvious way into the field other than through someone's garden.  There was a gap in their hedge though, so I think it's one of those old rights of way that they still have to allow.  We didn't really fancy walking through someone's garden though, but their next door neighbour drove out of his drive and saw us so stopped to ask where we were wanting to go.  We explained about the path on the map and he said to just cut through the garden and said they wouldn't mind.   Anyway, after road, field and woods, we finally made it back, rather hot and tired but it's been great.  Needless to say, we've done nothing else and even had an afternoon nap!
