Nine roses tall

Realising that 'the tour' (Tour de Yorkshire) wasn't going through Ilkley until 5:40 ish gave me a boost to get out of school and enjoy the atmospher. (I had previously thought I'd miss it all).
I missed the first batch to cycle past but got all the rest. :)
I love the festival feel you get at thing like this. The weather just topped it off. It was really nice and warm right into the evening.
There was quite a scary moment when the police/support motor bikes were all zooming up the road at the same point as a large group of the earlier finishers started coming back down the hill to head off for the night. Thankfully no one was hurt!
Once the race had passed I enjoyed bumping into May and a few parents and staff and having a chat. They had done a good job of organising fun events to keep people entertained and fed including making your own smoothie by powering the blender by cycling! My only complaint was that by the time I was looking for some food (about 6:30) they had all packed up and gone! And by 7:00 all the entertainment had gone! They missed out on that one! It was such a beautiful evening they could easily have kept it going till 9pm as everyone was still hanging about.
